The 2017-2018 Cheerleading team has been established, and they are going to have an experienced team.
The varsity team has only three new members: Cecelia Spinks, Reagan Osler and Alexis Taylor. The remainder of the team was on the varsity team for football season.
This is Sophomore Godelieve Tshimanga’s first year as a varsity player.
“I’m most excited for competitions and away basketball games,” Godelieve said. “JV didn’t get to travel for football, so this will be my first time traveling.”
For the new members of the team, this will be their first time competing against other cheer teams. Their first competition will be on December 1st in Pontiac, Illinois.
“I’m looking forward to competing for the first time,” Godelieve said, “but I’m worried that we’re not going to do well.”
To prepare for the upcoming season, the team had two practices on Saturday and Sunday from 8 am to 3 pm. During these two practices, the cheerleading team learned their competitive routine.
“Having practice every day is hard,” Godelieve said. “But all of that hard work is going to pay off on the competition floor, I hope.”
