Champaign Central High School’s theatre program just finished their last performances of The Addams Family. The Addams family was originally created by Charles Addams, a cartoonist, in 1938. Since then, it has been made into several movies and television shows with different adaptations, but all starring the same main characters. Central had two different casts for the show, Gomez, the father of the Addams family, was played by Wade Schacht on Thursday and Saturday and Josiah Zielke on Friday and Sunday. Morticia, the mother, was played by Maddie Henson and Rachel Gillett. Wednesday, the daughter, was played by Ainsley Holland and Liesl Schrag.
In this adaptation of the Addams Family, it is a musical where Wednesday falls in love with a boy named Lucas and she tells her father, Gomez, that she is going to marry him, but instructs him not to tell Morticia. This puts Gomez in a tough spot, along with her brother Pugsley (played by Alina Loewenstein and Karlee Feinen) who is upset that she might leave, and chaos ensues.
The students in the theatre program did a wonderful job of acting, singing, and dancing and putting on a wonderful show. On Saturday night, the night that they got evaluated for State, they sold out and are grateful to everyone who came and supported them.
